Joni Mitchell meets Mary Poppins

Pop, Acoustic

bio

Kori Pop’s debut album is not for those who prefer their music black and white ~ “From the Outskirts” is technicolour. Song after song, the listener is pulled into sonic and lyrical landscapes as varied as their creators influences. This girl is not your regular singer/songwriter ~ she is a storyteller. Who does she sound like? Mary Poppins meets Joni Mitchell, may say it best.

Kori grew up on the outskirts of Hamilton, Ontario. It was during this time that she became smitten with the art of song. A short-lived project in 2001 led her to record execs in New York City and Toronto. Deciding that the timing just wasn’t right, she left the project and began to study music in a formal setting. Five years later, armed with influences old and new, she began to write the musical journey that has become “From the Outskirts”

If you catch Kori in the early days of her release, she will be a lone soul, bearing it all for her audience. This young, up and coming songster will not disappoint – onstage or on record. Be sure to catch her on the road this Fall 2010.
