Living and working in Music City USA (Nashville, TN) afforded Doughty a number of opportunities, including entrance into venues such as The Ryman Auditorium & The Grand Ol' Opry. He Operated camera & assisted the post prod offline editing for the GAC Channel (The Great American Country Channel) thru Reba McEntire's company "Starstruck", and got to work with Charlie Daniels, Bryan Lennox, Michael W Smith, Chris Rice, SheDaisy, Nickle Creek, and more. Working in recording studios such as the Sound Kitchen, The White House, The Carport, & Ocean Way Nashville, Matthew J Doughty is proficient in the use of both digital DAW (ProTools, Cubase, Radar II) & analog tape (2", 1/2", 1/8") formats.
RECORDING PRODUCER / ENGINEER
Doughty opened his first project recording studio "Praiz Studios" in Yuba City, CA in 1998. The first full-length studio album Doughty Produced & Engineered was an International Success. Stabilo Boss came more than 1000 miles from BC, Canada to work for six weeks on their self-titled release which helped earn them international recognition and a record contract with EMI.
After graduating with a Music Business Degree from Belmont University in 2002, Doughty traveled back to Hollywood and began working on first rate sessions such as Fleetwood Mac, The Killers, & Econoline Crush under legendary Producer/Engineers Mark Needham, Rob Cavallo, & Sylvia Massy. He spent three & a half years operating Sound, Lighting, & Video (A-V) for concerts & conventions at Disney in Anaheim, and after two years of working with IATSE for large stage productions such as Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, and Linkin Park; he was ready to go on tour.
PERFORMING MUSICIAN
A multi-instrumentalist, Doughty plays Acoustic & Electric 6-string Guitars, 4 & 5-string Bass Guitars, Drum set & many forms of percussion instruments, along with the piano & most keyboard instruments (strings, b3 organ, etc.) Doughty spent the late 90's leading Rock Bands & church House of Worship teams in California and Mexico from the Vocals and Acoustic Guitar. He found new life as a Bass Guitarist when he moved to Nashville, TN and began performing with Crooked Creek and working with a number of experienced Studio Musicians and Producers including Chris "Graff" Graffagnino (Acoustic and Electric Guitarist for Michael W Smith, Chris Rice, Joy Williams). Performing Electric Bass Guitar for bands (We Shot The Moon, K Sera, Bleak Friday, Billy Blackburn, and 110), he has entertained the local Sacramento music scene, toured over 37 states, & played the World-Famous Whisky-A-Go-Go on Hollywood's Sunset Strip.
COMPOSER / SONGWRITER
Studying songwriting under Tom Shapiro, Marty Panzer, and Molly-Ann Leikin, brought focus to what had already been instinctual. While he writes in multiple genres, he currently focuses on Music for Picture (TV/Film), Pop/Country, & House of Worship. His debut Instrumental Album "Momentum Potential: Instrumental Music for Picture" as well as A Blinding Light's 5-song Modern Rock Worship EP "The Freedom Movement EP" is now available on AmazonMP3 and iTunes! Most recently, Doughty is proud to have his music supporting the drama of some of TV's finest programs. With this newest 43 min of his instrumental compositions acquired by a Hollywood Production Company, Matthew J Doughty is a Published Television Composer before the age of thirty.
