Rolando Alvarado

Rolando took up the bass guitar at the impressionable age of eleven and began his studies under local bassist Bob Marriner, who introduced him to a multitude of musical styles, as well as the expansive Simandl books. He went on to earn his BA from NYU, where he studied composition with Slovenian compser Dr. Jerica Oblak.

After graduating, Rolando spent nearly two years in Santiago, Chile playing with many of the city's jazz fixtures and performing throughout the country. He has since returned to the states and now performs regularly throughout the tri-state area with numerous jazz and rock groups, as well as his own co-led groups El Drugstore and Sassafras Spine.
